The G.R.A.C.E.S. of Leadership

The G.R.A.C.E.S. of leadership are essential core values that you and I can cultivate in our lives to model and enrich grace-based attachment to God and others. If they are part of our personal lives, our leadership will reflect it too. But when gaps exist between our values and actions, problems will occur. Our values must be integrated into our life, leadership, and ministry—the core motivation for all strategy and action, from the top down.

• God is first

• Relationships matter most

• Act as a team

• Consistent identity counts

• Emotions matter

• Suffer well

To lead in humble and healthy ways, you and I must cultivate and protect these values at all costs. The price: humility. Leadership guru John Maxwell said, “True leadership must be for the benefit of the followers, not to enrich the leader.” Under the direction of the Holy Spirit, anyone who owns these values will witness the G.R.A.C.E.S. become the heartbeat of their leadership and enjoy watching their team thrive. Together, this leader and team invite community and transformation.

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

-       Ephesians 2:8-9
